Women lives matter

News Fly is a NGO crime is all about doing research about crime that takes place in the community and in South Africa as a whole then put it to people's eyes and make sure that the country stay alert and this time we've decided to take a look at the most sensitive crime in South Africa as a whole which is GBV. Women have been victimized by men and the police take time to find them. There is a tendency of women being killed by their partners which is when police start to pay attention and there are those who are being abused physical in their marriages and these cases are not reported until someone dies.

76% of men are involved in GBV while 51% of women are also victims and thats just those who have reported except those who are afraid to come out and report. From 2019/20 there are 53 293 sexual offences reported an average of 146 per day, up from 52 420 in 2018/19. And most of these cases were rape but our police seemingly are not working because they were only able to record 42 289 cases out of rape cases. 2 695 women were murdered in 2019/20 which means women dies each and every 3 hours here South Africa and instead of numbers to decrease they increase. Information coming from WHO is that South Africa is the fourth in female interpersonal death rate out of the 183 countries in 2016.

Even during Lockdown last year while people are focusing on COVID-19 but still 21 women and children were murdered in two weeks which led to the president saying "two devastating epidemics : Covid-19 and GBV" so when the country was fighting Covid-19 women were facing Covid-19 and GBV but no few people were arrested for these cases and their families are still waiting for answers to the police. With new information saying the violence in women's lives rank higher than smoking, obesity or high blood pressure as a contributor to death, disability and illness. 

Not so long again, March 2021 we were disheartened to learn that yet another young woman has lost her life in the most gruesome death. She was found raped and murdered, this happened in Bodibe village, North West where the cases of women abuse are at an all time high. And still the police have not to arrested anyone for that case  even last month a women wrote in her Instagram about how she have been abused physically by her boyfriend who is a DJ by the name of Nkosinathi Basel Makhanya but known as Dj Gukwa and even though everyone saw that there are no news saying the guy have been arrested because the lady even posted a pic where she had a blue eye yet nothing Police have done about this situation.

There is also Motsamai Molete an ex teacher from Phahama High School in Mohlakeng who was fired for 7 charges of sexual harassment and rape of 7 different students but is now currently a Principal at John Martin Catholic School in Kagiso. Parents tried to approach the department of education about this but nothing was done.

Women lives matter but seemingly men don't know that and police turn blind eye now women always live in fear. Women even created a trend in social networks asking #AmINext because government doesn't set an example to one person who abuse women News Fly is aware of this social issue and is alerting the country as well. More cases means more tears more deaths but no action from the law.
